Elmside

In progress: Low energy retrofit of a listed lodge in Hertfordshire. The existing building dates from the late 1800s and home to prominent reformist. A wraparound extension includes new stair and a tall kitchen space. An openable corner faces south over new terracing and a pool. The existing building includes will include sensitive low energy upgrades and a new heat pump system linked to a large solar array to a new outbuilding. A new wildflower roof, deep overhangs and passive shading features helps to keep the interior cool.
